Program Overview

The importance of outstanding teacher preparation cannot be understated.
Transformational and meaningful teaching begins at Tabor! 
If you've read this far we hope it means you want to be that type of teacher – and so we warmly invite you to engage in that type of learning in either of our Masters. 

The Master of Teaching (Primary) is a pre-service teaching qualification designed to prepare professionally competent graduates for the teaching profession in accordance with AQF Level 9 and the National Professional Standards for Teachers. This academically rigorous course:

• Prepares you to teach all areas of the primary curriculum from Reception to Year Seven
• Focuses on developing your personal and professional knowledge, skills and understandings in Character qualities, Ethics, Wellbeing, Behaviour Management, ICT, teaching children with Diverse Needs, Literacy & Numeracy
• Includes 95 days of Professional Experience – the highest number of days in schools (in SA Tertiary courses)
• Offers varied Professional Experiences in schools –recognised as highly organised and supported
• Is underpinned by a Christian worldview and ethos; which you are not expected to personally hold but are expected to professionally respect

Qualifications for Entry
• Some understanding of teaching, good character qualities and a professional approach to learning. This can all be demonstrated through our Non-Academic Entry Video or Written response. See How Do I Apply section below for more information.
• A successfully completed undergraduate degree in a relevant Primary curriculum learning area with a GPA of 5.0 (Credit grades average).

Please Note We will organise everything with you but this is to advise that if you are accepted into either Master of Teaching course you will need a successful DCSI Child-Related Employment Screening prior to undertaking any Professional Experience in schools. And mandatory training is required in Responding to Abuse and Neglect, Education and Care.

Useful Information

Course Duration: 2yrs full-time – You can be eligible to teach by term 4 of the 2nd year!
Location: On campus - Adelaide
Intake: February and July (Adelaide campus only)
