Program Overview

The Master of Arts (Research) is a 3 semester equivalent full time award allowing students to participate in a broader community of scholarship and research within a range of Arts areas – including English, History, Philosophy, Christian Studies and Intercultural Studies. Students undertake a combination of coursework, postgraduate seminars and supervised research aimed at developing high level critical and reflective research practices. Graduates demonstrate their specialist knowledge and skill by producing a major 40,000 word research thesis.


Graduates are highly qualified to pursue employment, further research and/or scholarship with their field, including tertiary education.
Students undertake 12cpts study in appropriate research methodology, a further 12 cpts in an approved AQF level 9 subject relating to the intended research area, followed by a major work of supervised research culminating in a 40,000 word Major Thesis (worth 48 cpts).

Entry Requirements: Successful completion of a three-year Bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 6.0, or a Graduate Diploma in Arts with a GPA of at least 5.3 or approved equivalent
