Program Overview

The Doctor of Ministry is a professional doctorate designed to meet the continuing education needs of those in full-time Christian ministry who wish to take their qualifications to the highest level for the advancement of professional ministry practice.The course provides students with an expert understanding of the theological basis for and nature of Christian ministry and leadership in the 21st century. The course aims to develop graduates who have a systematic and critical understanding of their chosen area of specialisation (biblical studies, theological studies, spirituality and formation for ministry, or ministry practice) and relevant research methods, ability to apply their knowledge and skills to professional practice in diverse ministry and/or educational contexts, and who are able to generate and contribute to knowledge.

 

Admissions Criteria {Tabor's qualifications are nationally-recognised through our formal registration with TEQSA (Tertiary Education Quality Standards Australia). As such, we are pleased to provide ouradmissions criteria via the link above.} 

Graduates may find employment in a wide variety of senior leadership positions within church and parachurch organisations. This may include roles such as consultants to churches, mission agencies and other Christian organisations, educators of ministers in training in Christian tertiary education institutions, and denominational leaders or regional pastors. Alternatively, the course may be used as a form of personal or professional development for those already engaged in ministry.
