Program Overview

This coursework masters provides students with an advanced and integrated understanding of contemporary TESOL practice and theory. It consists of eight coursework subjects and two electives, which provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to lead effective TESOL programs, both in Australia and overseas. The course culminates in a Master's Professional or Master's Research Project, which allows students to engage and critically reflect on a significant program of TESOL practice or to research a significant and relevant TESOL focused topic.

Graduates are able to teach English and develop and lead programs of English language instruction in a broad range of contexts, both within and outside of Australia. Within Australia, graduates may find employment in government and private organisations, teaching migrants, refugees or international students. Overseas, graduates may find employment as English language teachers in universities, secondary schools, and various private settings (e.g. missions agencies) where English is not the dominant language.

Graduates with this qualification are eligible to apply for positions in State, Christian and Independent schools, with the potential for employment interstate and overseas.
