Course Overview

This qualification is designed for individuals who require further foundation skills development to prepare for workforce entry or vocational training pathways. Tabor is offering elective units in hospitality, community services and music industry. Students who complete this qualification may then decide to pursue a Certificate III qualification with Tabor in music, community services or seek a traineeship/ apprenticeship in a related industry.

It is suitable for individuals who require:

  • a pathway to employment or vocational training
  • reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 3
  • entry level digital literacy and employability skills
  • a vocational training and employment plan

The Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways qualification consists of 8 Core units, and 6 Elective units. To be awarded the full qualification, all 14 units of competency must be satisfactorily completed. 

After achieving the FSK20113 Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways students may continue their learning and undertake the CUA30915 Certificate III in Music Industry, CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services or CHC30213 Certificate III in Education Support at Tabor. Alternatively, graduates may wish to undertake a qualification with another Registered Training Organisation that offers CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support to seek a career in Aged, Disability or Home and Community Care.
Graduates of this qualification can also complete further education through a traineeship opportunity whereby they can be paid for work. Students can expect to find employment or a traineeship in roles such a:

  • Aged Care Assistant Musician
  • Stage Assistant
  • Education Support Officer
  • Community Services assistant
  • Individual Support Officer/ assistant

Core Units (8)

  • FSKDIG03 Use digital technology for routine workplace tasks
  • FSKLRG09 Use strategies to respond to routine workplace problems
  • FSKLRG11 Use routine strategies for work-related learning
  • FSKNUM14 Calculate with whole numbers and familiar fractions, decimals and percentages for work
  • FSKNUM15 Estimate, measure and calculate routine metric measurements for work
  • FSKOCM07 Interact effectively with others at work

Elective Units (6)

These elective units can be taken from either communication services or music units of competency such as:

  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
  • HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors in the work environment
  • CHCCOM001 Provide first point of contact
  • CHCGRP002 Plan and conduct group activities
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid

or

  • BSBWHS201 Contribute to health and safety of self and others
  • CUAIND303  Work effectively in the music industry
  • CUAMLT302  Apply knowledge of style and genre to music industry practice
  • CUADIG201  Maintain interactive content
  • CUAMPF203  Develop ensemble skills for playing or signing music
  • CUAIND304  Plan a career in the creative arts industry
