Course Overview

This course is ideal for existing and qualified youth workers wanting to step into management or leadership roles within the workplace. Students are equipped to develop and implement programs and services designed to meet the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.

Students are required to:

  • complete a minimum work requirement of 120 hours
  • apply for a DCSI Employment screening check 

 

Job titles may include: Youth and Family Services Coordinator, Program Manager, Senior Youth Worker, Youth Work Team Leader.

  • CHCCCS007 Develop and implement service programs
  • CHCCOM003 Develop workplace communication strategies
  • CHCCSM005 Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management
  • CHCDEV002 Analyse impacts of sociological factors on clients in community work and services
  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
  • CHCGRP002 Plan and conduct group activities
  • CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
  • CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues
  • CHCPRP001 Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
  • CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
  • CHCYTH001 Engage respectfully with young people
  • CHCYTH002 Work effectively with young people in youth work context
  • CHCYTH008 Support young people to take collective action
  • CHCYTH009 Support youth programs

Course Duration: 18 months full time or part time equivalent
Location: External (online) 
               On Campus: Adelaide
Entry Requirements:
 Certifiate IV in Youth Work and experience as a youth worker.
Training Sessions: 3-4 Lecturers / week
