Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of education settings, including public and independent schools and community education settings, who provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad-based supervision.Students are required to:

  • complete a minimum work requirement of 100 hours
  • apply for a DCSI Employment screening check
  • complete the Respond to Abuse and Neglect – Education Care (RAN-EC) training

Job roles may include roles such as a Case Worker, Support Worker for a community organisation or rehabilitation service, client contact, Residential Support Worker, Youth Caseworker (health service setting - non residential) or Youth Worker.

  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
  • HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors in the work environment
  • CHPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk

  • CHCCCS019* Recognise and respond to crisis situations

  • CHCCSM005* Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management
