Professional Outcomes
On successful completion of a Tabor Bachelor of Education Studies degree, graduates will be eligible to apply for management positions in various education related contexts including OSHC, education research, youth work, professional development and course training. And in school settings including literacy and numeracy support, subject support, curriculum writing, school services and educational support.
This degree does not qualify for teacher registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.

The Bachelor of Education Studies is a 3-year (144 credit points) Education professional accredited award. This award prepares students for informed support work in Primary (R-6) and Secondary (7-12) school settings in all sectors as well as various industry contexts. The 3-year award produces graduates who are valuable to employers as they are highly knowledgeable, professionally mature and practically skilled career-ready educators.
Tabor is one of the state’s premier teaching colleges and places major emphasis on the art of meaningful teaching practice. Hallmarks of the course include 2 community engagement projects, personal and professional formation in aspects of wellbeing, Christian faith, ethics, and flexible pathway opportunities to focus on literacy, numeracy, Secondary subject area specialisation (major in a subject area), wellbeing and curriculum which are sequenced to increasing depth, length, and complexity.
Tabor’s Bachelor of Education Studies enables students to prepare for a career in education framed within a relational Christian worldview. Students will also have the option to focus on literacy, numeracy, Secondary subject area specialisation (major in a subject area), wellbeing and curriculum. Our experience shows that such a framework produces graduates with the necessary balance of specialised and interpersonal skills.

The Bachelor of Education Studies Course Learning Outcomes are:
- Analyse the role of education in various contexts, drawing upon a range of resources relating to how learning occurs.
- Plan inclusive learning experiences that engage a range of learners by utilitising discipline-specific knowledge, cross-curriculum connections, digital technologies and differentiated practices.
- Research and interpret data-informed strategies to solve problems and make decisions that promote learning.
- Evaluate personal philosophical perspectives on education, in light of contemporary research, Christian perspectives, and vocational contexts.
- Evaluate and utilise wellbeing principles to promote and maintain positive, relational and safe learning environments in diverse learning contexts.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively to establish professional, ethical and respectful relationships with all stakeholders across learning communities.

What do I need for entry?
ACADEMIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Admission to the Bachelor of Education Studies award will be granted on the following basis:
- Completed South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or International Baccalaureate Diploma, with a minimum ATAR 60 or equivalent.
- Applicants in Year 12 or 13 may gain early admission through our Tabor School-Supported Entry (TSSE) mechanism. Criteria include achievement of a B Grade average across all SACE subjects (Stage 2), a minimum B grade for one Mathematics and/or English subject, and a completed Referee Form signed by their School Year Level Coordinator. Year 11 applicants may be provisionally accepted against fulfilment of the above criteria in Year 12.
- Successful prior study in a Bachelor level award (complete or partially complete) from a recognised higher education institution.
- Completion of at least an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 5 Undergraduate Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent overseas qualification.
- Completed (within last 2 years) Foundation Studies award or equivalent from a recognised higher education institution, plus successful Interview.
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with a minimum overall result of 145.
- Evidence of significant education work-related experience (minimum 2 years) plus a successful interview.
- Where applicants fall marginally short of academic criteria, they will be offered the opportunity to be interviewed against set criteria to better ascertain suitability for tertiary study.
Non-academic admission requirements
- IELTS average band score of 7.5, with a score of at least 8.0 for Listening and Speaking and a score of at least 7.0 for Reading and Writing.
Non-academic course requirement
The following non-academic course requirement must be met prior to any professional experience placement:
- WWCC – a successful Working with Children Check (Department of Human Services) is required for all students prior to undertaking any professional experience placement.
RRHAN-EC – Completion of Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care fundamentals course and masterclass course.
