Since enrolling in the Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing, I’ve had more than 100 short pieces published, including poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. My husband and I have also started our own freelance writing and editing business. The skills I learned at Tabor were invaluable in helping me to reach a publishable standard with my work and in giving me the confidence to mentor others through the writing and editing process.
I’ve always been a creative person, but my studies at Tabor unlocked my creativity in ways I couldn’t have imagined. It was an incredibly freeing experience that helped me embrace the creative part of my personality that had been lying dormant for far too long. As I worked on the creative writing assignments, I could feel my spirit coming alive.
The teaching staff had a wealth of experience, but were also extremely approachable. They really cared about me as a student, and I learned so much from their valuable feedback. As an external student, I also really appreciated the online discussion groups where we could interact with staff and fellow students. That was the start of some lasting connections that continue to fuel my writing journey.
