Doctor of Ministry

Postgraduate Course

About this Course

The Doctor of Ministry is a peak professional qualification designed for leaders serving in full-time Christian ministry.

Among the most demanding and informative courses of its type in Australia, the Doctor of Ministry provides students with a doctoral-level understanding of the complexities of the theologies and practices of ministry both domestically and internationally.

Aimed at individuals holding a Masters qualification, the course is designed to develop graduates with a systematic and critical understanding of their chosen area of specialisation. The coursework components develop candidate’s knowledge and skills, increasing the ability to apply professional practice in diverse ministry and/or educational contexts.  Additionally, the Doctorate includes the writing of a dissertation on ministry practice, which generates and contributes to knowledge and discussion.

The course is internationally recognised and as such graduates may find employment in a wide variety of senior leadership positions within church and parachurch organisations. This may include roles such as Consultants to churches, Mission Agencies and various other Christian organisations. Other possible vocations include Educators of Ministers-in-training in Christian tertiary education institutions as well as denominational leaders or Regional Pastors.  Alternatively, for those already engaged in ministry, the course may be used as a form of personal or professional development.
