Prof John Walton will be presenting “Genesis 1-2 - Do believers have to make a choice between science and faith?”
ABOUT THE PUBLIC LECTURE:
The book of Genesis is an ancient text. But what sort of impact does this recognition have on our interpretation of the creation narratives it presents? Starting with this question in mind, Professor John Walton will explore how we might faithfully read Genesis 1 and 2, in the light of its Ancient Near Eastern context. Having arrived at a clearer understanding of the message of the text, Prof Walton will then address whether the biblical account, read closely and contextually, could be viewed as compatible with the modern scientific consensus of evolution. As believers do we have to make a choice between science and faith?
