About Roger

Emeritus Professor Roger Harris PhD, BA (Hons), Dip Ed, Dip T, Grad Cert TESOL

Roger has worked at the Universities of Adelaide and South Australia for 45 years, his expertise being adult and vocational teacher education and research. He served as the inaugural Director of a University-recognised research centre for 17 years, and has published and presented nationally and internationally. He has been invited as a Visiting Professor to the Institute for Adult Learning, Singapore (four months, 2010), Universities of Konstanz (2004, 2014) and Cologne (2016, 2019), and Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok (five weeks, 2017).

Roger’s research record was recognised with the inaugural award for “VET Researcher of the Year” at the Australian Training Awards (2008). He has served on the Executive of the Australian VET Research Association and been editor of the Australian Journal of Adult Learning (1990-2012) and the International Journal of Training Research (2013-2020).

Roger is currently Chair of two Academic Boards and a member of their governance Boards. As a committed Christian attending Trinity Church Adelaide, serving at Tabor provides the wonderful opportunity to give back to education in a Christian environment, helping develop graduates who will labour fruitfully in God’s vineyard.

Roger has been a member of Tabor’s Academic Board since 2010 and Board of Governors since 2020.
