Dr Will Willimon Preaching Conference

July 17-18, 2017 at Tabor College (Adelaide Campus)

As "witnesses to his resurrection", Christian preachers are to catch the People of God up into the drama of salvation. This requires energy, imagination, passion and conviction ... and it also requires courage. Moving the "establishment" church from comfort into un-comfortability comes at a cost. The
re-discovery of the primacy of preaching the Word, and of obeying what it says to us in our times, is the challenge that faces every Christian. "Preach the Word..."

Dr William Willimon was Professor of the Practice of Christian Ministry at Duke University Divinity School, and Bishop of the United Methodist Church in Alabama (recently retired). For over 20 years he was Dean of the Chapel at Duke University in North Carolina. He has authored 60 books on pastoral care, preaching, leadership and theology. Australian Christian leaders will know him best from his Pulpit Resource preaching-helps series for pastors, with their lively exegesis of the text, the culture and the audience. After Billy Graham, Willimon has been called America's best preacher.

The conference will include sessions on reaching out to the culture without falling in, addressing social issues through the gospel, biblical interpretation and sermon preparation among many others. See the timetable for the 2-day event below.

Dr Willimon will also teach an additional 3-Day Intensive [July 19-21] entitled 'A Theology for Preaching to the Post-Christian Age' as a for-credit subject in the Master of Ministry-Doctor of Ministry program at Tabor.
NB: Participants who enrol for-credit in the Preaching Conference and the Intensive; and who enrol for-credit in Tabor's Bible Lands Tour (April 2-15, 2018); and hold a completed a BMin/BTh with a GPA of 5.3+, will be awarded a Graduate Diploma in Ministry.
