About Ray

Professor Ray Roennfeldt: RN, BA (Theology), MA (Religion), PhD (Systematic & Historical Theology)

Professor Roennfeldt has recently retired as President and Vice Chancellor of Avondale University College where, for more than 11 years, he provided leadership as Avondale transitioned to full self-accrediting status and then to Australian University College authority. During a career that spanned more than 50 years, Ray has worked as a nurse, pastor, theological educator in Papua New Guinea and Australia, and as a higher education administrator. During the past three decades he has been very engaged in course development, academic governance, institutional direction and strategy, and cross-institutional participation . In retirement he continues to interact with the higher education sector through involvement with a number of independent providers and as a higher degree by research supervisor. For the past 10 years he has chaired the Human Research Ethics Committee at Sydney Adventist Hospital.

Ray joined the Tabor Board of Governors in 2021 and is the Chair of the Advancement, Community Recognition and Stakeholder Subcommittee of the Board. He is strongly committed to fostering the advancement of Christian higher education in Australia and enthusiastically affirms Tabor’s mission and values. He is married to Carmel, a Studies of Religion teacher, and is the very proud father of two married children (Claire and Jonathan), and the grandfather of two granddaughters.
