About This Course
The Master of Arts (Christian Studies) is a flexible and integrative award designed for those seeking to explore their faith, deepen their biblical and theological understanding, and serve thoughtfully in contemporary contexts. The course is suited to people serving in church and ministry settings, as well as those working in the marketplace who wish to engage Christian life and thought alongside their professional vocation.
This course provides students with a strong foundation in the key areas of Christian studies through a balanced combination of academic study, personal reflection, and practical application. Students will develop insight into Christian faith and practice that equips them to respond faithfully and intelligently to the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Whether students wish to serve more confidently in their current context, enrich their professional practice with theological depth, or prepare for further postgraduate study, the Master of Arts (Christian Studies) offers an education that empowers thoughtful Christian engagement.
Professional Outcomes
Graduates of the Master of Arts (Christian Studies) are equipped to serve thoughtfully in a range of church, community, and professional contexts where theological insight and critical reflection are valued. This course supports those already working in ministry, education, community services, or the broader marketplace who wish to integrate Christian faith with their vocational practice.
The Master of Arts (Christian Studies) also provides pathways to further postgraduate study. Graduates may articulate to the Master of Divinity (144 credit points) with up to 72 credit points of advanced standing. Subject to units completed, graduates may also be eligible for advanced standing in the Master of Education or Master of Leadership, or to pursue Higher Degree by Research (HDR) study.

- An advanced and integrated knowledge of Christian life and faith, with an awareness of the Christian tradition and contemporary developments in theory and practice
Graduates will be able to:
Critically analyse biblical texts and theological concepts in light of contemporary scholarship
Discern how biblical and theological teachings shape their life, faith, and vocational choices
Communicate key ideas in Christian studies clearly and competently to a range of contemporary audiences
Graduates will be able to demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills:
By producing integrated and practical expositions of principles and themes in Christian studies
Through critical reflection and informed judgement when engaging issues in contemporary church life and wider society
By planning and executing research that synthesises learning in specific areas of Christian studies
Graduates will be able to:
- Reflect on their spiritual, theological, and personal formation, and evaluate how this formation intersects with their vocation and practice
